Novel Progression V

I am doing some research to enhance my novel’s depth, and complexity. For those who don’t know, the novel is in the fantasy genre. I’ve done plenty of research, so far. I have been looking up names and meanings of names. This has so far, interesting.

I have looked up historical periods. Some of my own class work (history of graphic design) has been helpful in painting pictures of how knowledge worked and was spread.

I’ve discussed this with a friend, and writing out the characters and their relationship to others has helped form them. Also writing period slowly allows character’s build.

I have more revising and writing to do.

The Day Winds Down

Awww man, I was having fun relaxing. LOL Ghost In the Shell is about to come on. I like watching the show. A good mix of law enforcement, sci-fi, and animation. Enjoyed my night. May cap it off with a drink stronger than grape kool-aid. I have some Hurricane in my fridge. Time to pop that top mellow out more.

"Playing Shake It Off" by Mariah Carey. That's my theme song for all the BS that bother's me. A drink, and stacy's theme song is a fantastic way to cap off a night.

Had to take my contacts out, and give my eyes a rest. Put on my glasses. i so need to buy a new pair. That's down the line.

Called a good friend who I didn't speak to in a while. We chatted for an hour and it was soooo good. its nice to have a friend you can talk to about all the things going on. Called my Mom, who was also relaxing (runs in the family). She won't cap her night off with a drink, but she loves to relax. She's a nurse. I don't know how she does it. The woman's an angel.

STACY'S MOTTO: I will break free of all things that try to constrain me!!!!

My Day Off

I got up early to have my oil changed. After that i came back home and relaxed. I love a lazy Saturday. I made french toast for breakfast. made enough for tomorrow. They were soooo good. I may make fries for dinner. I'm not in the mood to make a full meal.

Birds of Prey # 92 & 93

When we last left the birds, it was one year later (company wide thing-it’s a year since issue 91), the Birds were trying to rescue Crime Doctor. He’s defecting from the Society of Super Villains (the union for evil doers in the DC Universe).

There are new agents on the case (along with my favorite agent, Huntress) Jade Canary (AKA Lady Shiva-The super badass of fighting-I think she can kill a man by staring him down), and Gypsy. She’s ditched the old costume (thank God).

Needless to say the Society wants Crime Doctor back, and go through great lengths to get him back. Crime Doctor is a master of torture, ask the Secret Six. The Society sends out their badass warrior to get him. Prometheus kicked Batman’s butt once. Good cliffhanger. I can’t wait for the next issue.

Birds of prey is Written By Gail Simone. The Art is By Paula Siqueira and Robin Riggs.

Novel Progression IV

I got the urge to work on my novel once more. I began adding paragraphs and taking away some. I like the fact that I am moving forward. The story gets deeper, and feels better. I so love writing. Good challenge.

I hope to retype at least two pages. I’ll feel good about that. I can work on more tomorrow.

Two Weeks Without Lattés

Its my day off. What did I do? I went out for groceries. It was worthwhile. I made a budget of $40.00, and the goal was to stay with it. Even with adding chocolate chip cookies, and a slice of red velvet cake, I managed to say under my budget ($38.00). I am proud of myself!!!!! The cake is the treat for my good behavior.

Paid a few bills today. Mainly my cable, phone bill, and insurance. Tomorrow I need to get my oil changed. I’m still in budget with that too!!!

I cut out Starbucks. I was spending too much money on Hazelnut Lattes. Maybe I’ll get a small (“tall” in Starbucks terms) once a week, not everyday. That’s a big maybe too, maybe I can drop lattes for at least two weeks.

Drinking more water. At least two bottles during work as opposed to all the soda and Kool-Aid.

Work has been annoying to say the least, but I prayed on it, and promised myself that I will not partake in any of the games going on. I do an excellent job, and I like my shift. Some people are too disgustingly ratty when it comes to trusting. That’s life.

I’m getting a slice of cake. I’m taking the edge off my day. LOL

Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E. Issue#4

The new issue's out. I got it in the mail (my first mail order subscription-purchased directly from Marvel Comics) . I love this series. Its as funny as hell. I don't know who's read it or not, but it was so enjoyable. I love the origin of the Captian. Boy is he a sad, twisted, and entertaining. Poor monica misses the action. The eveil cop-turned mecha is cool. What's even cool is how tabitha dismantles him by her lonesome. As usual, Ellie kills more of the HR dept agents (broccoli men-don't ask, enjoy its unusual concept).

Another thing I like is the series isn't bogged down in long and drawn out plots. Two issues per storyline. Not a bad model for writing. Its totally different from any other comic book I'm reading, and its a good kind of different.

Sith Bastard

I was scibbling on my calendar when he showed up. LOL Darth Vader made an impression in my head and showed up on my calendar. He was a scribble and nowhere a detailed image, but a funny image. So now he's there to stay, until I destroy the calendar.

I wonder who else will show up in the comming months.

Please Lose the Attitude

We send faxes at work as a courtesy. We send them at three hours. The only hour with relevance to my shift is 9:00 PM. This student comes in, and asks if we fax. I told him the hour I fax, and the guy had an attitude. When the four letter words start flying that's whent he problem comes. He wants his item faxed NOW. I started helping other people. Gave them the upmost service while this boy fell to peices. The guy storms out, comes back in and says he wants to fax his item but I need to make a copy of the material. I told him where the copy room was. We don't make extra copies. He wasd even more pissed. I left him alone to fill out his fax info and told him to put it on the desk when he was done. His material was faxed proptly at 9:00 PM, not a moment sooner or later.

People come in all huffy and shit, and want me to bend over backwards while they are cursing. Betta call your momma, see if she can fax it. Maybe she will burp you change you too.

Pleasantly another person came in and asked about faxing. All the while it was a pleaseant convesation. It capped off a nice moment in my day.

Adventures is Troubleshooting

Yesterday was fine until one of the urinals at work kept flushing. Called dispatch, who called maintenece. Maintence slipped in and semi fixed it. Water was on the floor, and they put this showercap thingie over the urinal, and it stopped flushing. I suspect the cap means it won't flush. I have the feeling there is some numbnuts who would still try to piss in that urinal. There are some NASTY, SLACK people who don't wash those hands after going to a public restroom, and head straight to the computers.

I Make A Great Scapegoat

There's more drama on the work front. My smart-assed co-workeds decided to call our supervisor and tell her that we need to have a meeting with the student workers. Well our supervisor decided to mmake our job extra hard by addinbg extra steps to our interaction with student workers. Yes, the steps are completely assinine. It would require all staff members to micro manage students. Between all the things I normally have to do, that would be too much work for a solveable solution.

But wait, it gets better. My co-workers asked me to write a letter to our supervisor. Of course I was all fired up, but I thought about it. My name is the only one in this pot (to write this letter). I know these people ain't trying to set me up for a fall, when they went to the supervior on their own in the first damn place. I ain't writing shit. If they can can request BS when I'm not there, then they can open their mouth and get this shit done with. I am not putting my neck out on the chopping block when they are the ones who fucked things up. I can't beleive I work within a higher education system sometimes.

BTW, my students at night work flawlessly. I never have a problem. We have an understanding. Do your work well, no BS, and I won't breathe down anyone's neck (not that I want to). They are all adults. They're great students. I don't know what goes on in there when I am not there, but it doesn't matter. I am responsible onl for when I am there.

Bad Meal

My goal was to make some hamburgers. Good sized ones that were to go on the bun. To my surprise the meat wouldn't hold together as patties. The fell appart as I formed them. That was my first sign. Keep in mind I always use the same method. Two eges as a binding agent. I added a third egg. It bound somewhat togehter. I cooked them, and tasted a patty. OMG yuk. The texture of the ground beef didn't even feel or taste like ground beef. Admitedly I bought the beef from a different store than ususal. I will NEVER go there again!!!!!

I should have made the pork chops, wild rice and mixed vegies, or shrimp alfredo. I am so pissed.

I did make some good terriaki wings on Saturday. I will get some salad and eat that for dinner today. I am so mad about the burgers. I was ready for some nice homemade burgers. Live and learen I guess. No more Krogers for me. its either Piggly Wiggly or Wal-Mart from now on. They never let me down before.

Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E.

What an insane comic. It's got great art and a high amount of silliness. Its also a fun read.

The series revolves around superheroes who rebel against their bosses to shut down the terrorist organization that has been funding them (without their knowldge, of course).

The team is lead by Monica Rambeau, who'se former superhero code names are "Captian Marvel", and "Photon." She's one bad sister, as she used to lead the Avengers, and is certianly one of the most powerful team members. Monica is one of the few African-American superheroes in the game. Up until now, I don't think she's been as fun to see/read.

The cast includes:
Meltdown: She can make things explode and she loves to steal things. She has an obcession with talking on her cell phone.
The Captian: Who forgot his real name. He's superstrong and flies.
Machine Man: His name says it all.
Elle Bloodstone. Supertough kick-butt monster hunter.
Dirk Anger: He's a super macho man with issues. I think he's trying to kill himself, and failing at it.

The art is stylish. I really like the style. The series looks like it could be easill anim ated. I notced the covers are collages, or at least designed on patterned paper. It adds a texture to them. A good book I'd recomend to anyone wanting break from the heavier material in other comics.

Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E. is written by Warren Ellis with art by Stuart Immonen. Published by Marvel Comics.

Time for a Shave

I looked in the mirror, and saw how scruffy I looked. LOL I really like the look, but its time for the beard to go. Naturally, I got the clippers and sheared it off. I just know I'll let it grow out again. I look completely different shaved. Here's to looking different and so damn handsome!!!!!!

I can't resist me. ROFLMAO!!!!!

I did optimise and resize the Photos in Photshop and ImageReady. The beard pic has a color filter added since the image/light lost some of the color from my face.

I Want a Photgraph On My Blog

Hope ya like it!

Proud Moment

Cancelled one of my credit cards. It was all payed off. That felt GREAT!!!!!

I'm Sleepy (Already)

I so need a nap after washing and drying my clothes. LOL I feel like a cat. I could spend 80% of my day sleeping like cats do. It's up to the coffee maker to rescue me. mmmmm Maxwell House with hazelnut flavoring.

Its So Early

I am so a vampire, in terms of hours. I usally am asleep by now. Today is laundry day, so I needed to get up and get that done. Cleaning my living room. My father and brother are comming this week-end. I don't know if I want company, but since I need to get my fathger's cell phone replaced (its my acct), I need to get that underway.

Spoke with my younger brother. He's moving. I am very happy for him. He's so busy. We used to hang out all the time, but we don't see much of each other now. We call and text message each other from time to time. I miss having him around. I miss all my family, but that comes and goes.

Called grandmother, who was so pleased to have a call. She's funny sometimes. She obviously reminds me of my mom. Mom's fine. I miss her most of all, and her cooking. Don't nobody cook like momma. She's made some good food. Collards, field peas, fried chicken. I want to go home. ROFL I'll vist one week.

P.S. I'll never serve grits or liver in my house. ROFLMAO!!!

New Writing Project

Have have a Sci-Fi story I'm working on, I keep projects rolling. LOL This one will take me about 4 good weeks, if I maintain the course. A lot of its is writing and finding out about the characters, then revising as necessary. My novel is still on the backburner, but I need time away from what i wrote to get back into it.

Dug up some old stories on my laptop two of them caught my eye quickly. I will be revising those as the days pass. I am in rush with them yet, but I will turn those straws into gold yet. they are great stories. I belive in my writing. my work can only get stronger and more skilled. before the end of the year, I aim to get my stories published. The novel, I'd loved to have a signifigant portion done by the end of the year.

I'm a writng fool.

No More Boxes

This turned out to be a good day at work. Feed up with the box/package bs, I decided to email my supervior about this situation. I pointed out the major facts and flaws, and I was willing to go an extra mile for help, but its plain wrong for me to take on the full responsibilty of accepting all packages with sometimes time-sensitive material that may not get opened until the late hours of the night or a few days later, especially when packages come in during the day when I am not at work, or the days I am off.

My supervisor revised how things are being done. Now, everybody checks the mail on earlier shifts, and on the week-ends. I am more than pleased with this. I am so glad I decided to readdress this in an articulate, well thought out letter. I feel things didn't have to go to the negative reaction. beleieve me, I was fustrated, and thought that i might need to "go off," but I was wrong about that.

I have learned that I can be as effective with well-chosen words.

All Star Superman

By Grant Morrison and Frank Quietly. This too is a great read. This is a recreation of Superman. It doesn't fit into the regular continuity of the Superman comics. Its quite fun and imaginative. Also, I think because it is a seperate book from the other Superman titles, there is a certian amount of freedom. I must say its a very fantasical story. Very science fantasy.

It starts off with something fascinating. Superman is dying. This leads to a confession to Lois Lane, a getaway to the Fortress of Solitude, and Lois posessing Superman's powers for 24 hours. two interesting heroes, Sampson and Atlas make appearences (both characters are greatly strong, but both still wimps compared to Superman's power-fascinating)

I may post some of the interior art for y'all to see, but at a later date. I love the two covers I posted. :-)

On a silly side note moste people online abbreviate All Star Superman as ASS. Every now and then someone will say Grant Morrison's Ass. I find that funny.

The Bulleteer

This has been a great comic. It's part of the Seven Soliders line of comics from DC Comics. Lead character Alix Harrer 's husband, is obcessed with heroes, develops a process that bonds steel to human skin. He tries the process on himself and on his wife. He suffocates and dies. Alix lives. What follows is more than fascinating. Alix discovers that her husband has an alternate reason for his hero obcession (sorry, I can't spoil it for you). Alix tries to become a hero, and it leads to some fascinating adventures. The character is fascinating enough that I hope Morrison writes more stories with her. It's a four issue series. I scanned 3 of the covers for you.

Its written by Grant Morrison and art by Yannick Pacquette. Its a fun read. I hope she isn't one of the Seven Soliders who dies in the Seven Soldier's special. lert it be Frankenstein's Monster. He may be reviable. LOL

Budget In The Works

Its time to look at my finances and get them under wraps. I nned to keep things under control before I go get myself into a hole. I'm starting. We will see how things work out.

Turn Up The Drama

Hey,

I have a lot of work to do. As the supervisor, I have to make sure my students are doing what they are supposed to be doing. I am not there during the day, but its being brought to my attention that they are not doing their work, and are allowed to do nothing during the day. I am so annoyed with this. No matter what shift the students work, all complaints come to me. All I need is for the Dean to see our students doing nothing. I'll be emailed so fast with a stern warning about shaping them up.

I sent out emails letting all staff members know that the students need to be doing their assignments. If they don't have any work for students, I left some work for the students. Not mind and body draing work, but things that need to be done. I hope that there are no problems, but I have done what I need to do.

At Last, I Did It!!!!

I submitted my short story to Glimmer Train. I was so nervous about submitting. I felt I needed to tweak the story more and more, but I decided that it was a now or never type of deal. In other words I was finding ways NOT to submit material. I had to get myself out of that train of thought.

I am nervous about the story. Does it measure up to editorial standard? Will the editors like the material enough to publish it? What if its not what people want to read? It all goes through my head. I'm all nerves. LOL

Its a holding pattern now. I have a couple of short stories on the back burner to work on, and a novel to complete. I suppose I will be too busy to think about this one submission. Lets see if I can make two and three to worry about. Writing is weird, exciting, and so worth it in the end. Even if the story didn't get published, I am so glad I did feel confidant enough to submit it.

Sometimey Friends

Goodness,

I was thinking of some poeple I used to talk to all the time. I made an effort to call them back, and I was totally blown off. This isn't the first time. Its been a while now. After several attempts to call them and speak, it never came to be for some time now.

I am rather dissappointed. I thought they were friends, and I would be able to talk. I've know these people for years. I call them to say "hi, how have you been." Why peeps gotta be like that.

Good thing I bounce back. Forget them. After this post I say goodbye to my sometimey friends.

Bye bye!

Taking Photographs

It's funny. I used to hate my picture taken. I don't mind now. Here are a couple more I took. I was getting over being sick.

As usual, I ran the images throught Photoshop filters to give my weak-assed camera phone resolution some punch!!!!

Cooking

I just made some BBQ ribs that are soooo goood!!!!! To think I wasted money on eating out when I can make some good tasting food myself.

I was trying to cook for several days this week while I'm off. It will save me the trouble of trying to wake up and make meals during the workdays. I have some stir-fry vegies to make.
