Mistake
A mistake has happened
I keep it around to punish myself
But I ought to let it go
If truly I was in prison,
Then the pay for the crime is life
I see no escape in sight
Do I want one?
I hold the lock and the key
I made the prison
Brick by brick
Lovingly designed
So foolish of me to commit to a crime
That has long faded from the world view
I made several mistakes.
For sure I should let them go.

W is for Wishing
Sleeping in bed next to nothing wishing you were here with me
How many times must I have the same dream?
How many times must I wake,
And taste the bitterness of reality?
So I keep wishing you were here with me
Wishing to feel the heat of your body,
the touch of your soft skin,
To stroke your back and hair
With tender loving care
To fall in love with you over and over again.
For you my lady, I can't stand
The distance between us
Call it desperation, Call it love
But I've had enough of being apart.
The phone calls ring untrue.
And emails won't do.
Until I'm with you,
I keep wishing, wanting and waiting
For the comfort I once knew.
How many times must I have the same dream?
How many times must I wake,
And taste the bitterness of reality?
So I keep wishing you were here with me
Wishing to feel the heat of your body,
the touch of your soft skin,
To stroke your back and hair
With tender loving care
To fall in love with you over and over again.

Prometheus (Repost)
NOTE: Looking back on my poetry makes me want to write and share more.
Prometheus
Art thou making a comment perchance?
Who is this fool?
Why doth he not know,
That through experience, passions, and exploration
With no self-imposed limits,
Is the key to thine own glory?
Where is thy pride in thy craft?
Where is thy heart and soul?
Ye used to say that ye ached and suffered
Stretched across a rock
Naked and shackled for eternity
While thy innards be ravaged by carrion
Doth thy not sing
With such intensity-
To move a hardened man to tears?
It was as if you, who dared
To steal fire from the gods,
And give it to man to warm himself
Now shackled and shamed
For all eternity.

LIML: Live Inside My Love
LIML: Live Inside My Love
© Stacy R. Haynes
Live inside my love she says
Between her whispers in the dark
My own heart races in anticipation
She kissed my ear, my neck
I was down for her.
She was down for me
We were ready to take the next step.
A step of passion
Summer’s evening brought through
A cool breeze against our hot skins
As we undressed in the dark
Crickets chirped
She had an old turntable
That played 70’s soul music
As the needle found the grove
And we found the rhythm.
We were brazen
Unconcerned
As we sang a melody together
I live inside her love
I breathe her in
She takes me whole
We are wild and restless
In the heat of the night,
We stoke our own fires
Until the embers calm and cool
Laying beside her
Her next to me
Catching our breaths
Pleased inside a world of out own.

Loved By You
Please take my hand,
Give me your love
Let it be sweet and strong,
Like fine wine from the sweetest fruit
Plucked at the ripest moment
Don't you dare hold back
let us savor this passion,
For the taste is truly divine.
Let your love fall like a rainstorm
That's come to quench the desert of its dry
Let it come down, down, down
Rain upon me, wake me from my long slumber.
For you, I rise to the occasion
For you I wait the first drops of the river soon to come
Rock me to heaven
Rock me until I can't take it anymore
Rock me 'till the stars explode
In one glorious moment
We shall reach escape velocity,
And break the ties that bind us to this world.
Let this be our greatest adventure
Let this be eched into our hearts & minds
For all eternity.
Please let me love you,
And let me be loved by you.
Give me your love
Let it be sweet and strong,
Like fine wine from the sweetest fruit
Plucked at the ripest moment

Bittersweet Chocolate
A kiss of chocolate, a tingle in the spine.
Lips licked with such sweet, sweet satisfaction
A gentle breeze on the skin,
Dances electric in my body, in my mind,
Rocking me to the core
Need I tell you that my soul sings an aria,
That only my true love will ever hear?
Only my true love will ever know all the notes.
Were she to ever leave,
I would sing it no more.
I would look for no more enchantments.
I will not wish or want to be enchanted again.
Tis the taste of bittersweet chocolate.
I dare not allow my heart to be broken ever again.
Lips licked with such sweet, sweet satisfaction
A gentle breeze on the skin,
Dances electric in my body, in my mind,
Rocking me to the core
Need I tell you that my soul sings an aria,

The Poet In Me
Working on a new poem. Decided to hold onto it, and working out the words a lot more. Playing with the ideas, trying to make it better. May post it later tonight, or tomorrow. Whenever I stop making additions/corrections to it. The poet in me is alive, and kicking. Glad he put in an appearance.

Winter’s Kiss
Winter’s Kiss
To know you is to know
A kiss so cold and fleeting,
Yet your touch lingers lifelong
An echo in the distance
Too far to hold onto
Far too close to my heart that won’t let you go.
You love me for a season,
And then you move on
A whisper of a ghost of a memory
Gone as quickly as you arrived.
When the leaves regain their strength,
When the flowers find their passion,
And courage to bloom once more,
I think of you.
Again, I find you gone…
Again you disappoint me…
Again I yearn for your touch,
As three seasons pass me by.
Every day I look around
In an empty room,
Everything reminds me of you,
The walls, the chairs,
Even the spiraling stairs.
The picture hung so high,
That takes my breath away.
How could you do this to me?
How could you leave me alone?
I have plucked the dandelions dry
Waiting for a taste of you
I have bore the summer’s humid heat
Waiting for a cool kiss from you.
Yet by time the leaves fade from green
To shades of red,
I have forgotten all about your cold ways
Your cold and fickle heart
I long to kiss you again,
Long to hold you in my arms,
And fall back in love.

To Our Love
To Our Love
This toast is to our love.
Let us raise glasses and rejoice.
This is to the fires burning,
The passions stoked,
The creaking in the bed,
That vixen look in your eyes,
That come hither smile
Oh, to be seduced,
And so close to you body and soul
This is to our love.
Let’s get past the champagne
Throw the bottle away.
It wasn’t that good a year anyways
This is to your kiss
This is to your lips
This is to the motions we insist
On carrying out tonight
This is to our hearts,
As they beat faster, faster
To our passions that overflow
Like a river.
To the rhythm we keep,
Like a relentless waltz
To the feelings of desire quenched
In our bodies and souls.

So Wrong
So Wrong
How could I be… so wrong?
One look at you, and I knew all that was written.
The words to your songs and your stories
Were written upon first glance.
I closed the book, put away the records, and walked on by,
Thinking I knew it all
Took every measurement with merciless eyes
Hands so unclean detailed every stoke with my pencil.
Rendered you complete in my own mind’s eye.
Felt you were complete body and soul.
Framed you ever so carefully
Tacked you to the wall, in the corner near the window.
I thought it was flattering.
The session was over.
How was I to know, that the song in your heart,
Was not the bell I did ring?
How did I not see the dimensions your represented
Not with your pride, but with your strength?
Now that I have failed again…
I will try once more to see and hear without prejudices.

All That Constrains Us
All That Constrains Us
By Stacy R. Haynes
It wakes you in the morning.
It does not slither on the ground.
Nor creaks on an uneven cold floor to give it away.
You cannot taste it, nor can you touch it.
It invades you with each breath you take.
Can you feel it in your lungs?
It goes down like second hand smoke,
Burning your insides,
Painfully choking you, the uninitiated
Left to writhe in agony.
No doctor.
No medicine man.
No good night kiss can cure what ails you.
Take my hand,
Ride out the storm with me.
See me for who I am,
Lean on me for support.
I shall lean upon you
Let go of the poison.
Let us both be stronger than who we were before.
Let Hades reclaim his breath,
And let us be free of all that constrains us.

Possessed
You cling so tight to me
You make my eyes water with dread,
As you stare at me
With your cold, cold unfulfilled eyes
You say nothing
I keep wondering
What do you really want?
What do you really need?
Am I to be bled dry?
So that you may be satisfied?
Little by little you take a part of my being,
Trying to get to my soul
You’ll take everything from me, until you have taken me all.
You will have taken over me.
Tell me, will you discard me if you are not filled?
Or will you rebuild me with your own designs in mind.
Build as you will, discard the less desired.
Does not my pain count?
When I no longer begin as me, but end with you, where are we?
You make my eyes water with dread,
As you stare at me
With your cold, cold unfulfilled eyes
You say nothing
I keep wondering
What do you really want?
What do you really need?
Am I to be bled dry?
So that you may be satisfied?
Little by little you take a part of my being,
Trying to get to my soul

I Don’t Do
I don’t do no bus
I walks my own damn path down the streets
Don’t go nowhere
Don’t want for no place
Neverumind that noplace feels like home
When it rains, it don’t matter
Water gets under my ratty umbrella just the same
I don’t do no skates-inline or out
If I want to roll on I do
Don’t do no good meal
I eat with my fingers
Nobody knife and forks a Snickers bar,
Or a can of string beans-no heat, no salt nor pepper
Don’t do no love
I only know her.
We don’t kiss
We don’t do no passion
We meet day and night on a dirty mattress
We don’t do no laundry
In a hole in the wall to crawl into.
Don’t do no uplifting
Just get my spot and sleep
We don’t got power,
We don’t got water.
Ain’t got no song to sing
No melody nor
Some sunshine for a guy who don’t do.
Don’t do no song
What’s to sing for?
Song don’t have no feelings
I go numb, body head and soul numb
Dumb to the world.
I walks my own damn path down the streets
Don’t go nowhere
Don’t want for no place
Neverumind that noplace feels like home
