My Weekend-Rah, Rah, Rah!

The power went out this weekend. I was sitting on my bed, enjoying Clone Wars, when it all went off. No lights, TV, DVD, nothing. Luckily there was a charge on my ipod, which I played to pass the time. I could have played the laptop, but I didn't want to waste the batteries. There was a tornado waring as well. Something that had me worried. Powerless and a tornado warning... I was on the nervous side.

Having one of those transitional moments when I work up and realized I did minimal writing over the weekend. I don't think that's a good think y'all. I did mull over a lot of things in my head, and I wrote out a concept. I did do some minimal cleaning, and I did prepare season some chicken breasts that I will cook today. True to form, I did not look at them when I bought them good enough. They are fresh, and will taste great, but I did NOT realized they were thin cut until I took them out of the package.

I was quick enough to put a couple of notes down for my latest script. I made sure to eat breakfast. I spent minimal time for my break meal. Peanut butter sandwich is the way to go. I'm simply too early to eat a full meal. I should make some corn to go with the chicken, or greens. Greens sound good. Still have pizza I need to devour. No need to go deeper with the meal.

I did go to the movies, which was worth it.

More Flower Power

It's working. My allergies are behaving. Praise the Lord. Sometimes I feel like I'm being beaten on by pollen. It makes my day so awful, and otherwise I don't feel like being a kind person.
I feel like a man in a haze trying to find his way out and people are getting in the way of me finding peace. So here's another picture from my Mother's garden.

Mom has the unique flower pots, and i found them too fascinating to let walk by. Speaking of witch, I need to upload some pictures from my last Charleston visit. How I miss my family & friends. i also miss the familiar places I used to hang out at. I wonder how some people are doing. I need to email them and talk.

10,000 B. C.

I decided to go see the movie. Something of a treat for myself. Check out the website for the movie if you're curious.

The movie was ok. Not Earth shattering, but nowhere the horror people were trying to tell me it was. It's really a "coming of age" story, where the young warrior learns courage and leadership. His people are taken to be slaves, or course, the woman he loves is one of the captured people.

I loved the giant chickens (terror birds). Real aggressive for their meals. Sadly not enough of them in the film, not enough saber tooth tiger (that sucker was HUGE) as well. It was like they were union, put in their parts, and dipped off.

There is a slave revolt in the movie. it was worth seeing. None of that we must suffer all through the movie and nothing happens. They kept whipping that African, and he was waiting for the signal. When they gave it, that slave whipping dude was toast. Kinda wished they spent a few more minutes on dude getting his ass kicked.

Worse part, the near ending. Girl dies, and is magically brought back to life. Very, very weak in my opinion. Wounded I could accept. Still more terror birds were needed for me! I had fun.

Last Day of Finals

It's been a heady week with us working and toiling to get things done. To those who worked hard to get things done with a round the clock sense of urgency, I applaud you. It ain't easy, and so many of us tried so hard to get things done proper. I need to go to sleep and relax the rest of the day, which I suspect I won't because I have stuff to do. Life can be hard, and exhausting, but it's my life, and its rough sometimes, but I make do.

Now, onto my other projects, which is working on my portfolio. I want to knock a chunk out while I have a week of free time to develop materials. Writing was never easy, and growth and development doesn't come easy, but it needs to be worked out. I suspect I wouldn't like writing if it were easy.

Ode To Old Friends (It's A Wrap)

Do y'all know its good to catch up with an old friend you haven't seen in a long while, and have a cup of tea with them as you remind yourself of your long-standing friendship? The answer is, "yes I am being very, very sardonic."

This is my ode to old friends who don't want to talk anymore. The ones that can't wait to get off the phone with me because quite frankly they don't want to talk to me. They don't return calls or emails, and quite frankly, you suckers make me sick! Even further if I call them they find ways to hang up. Non creative ones too. Yes I saw through them, and I am putting this experience on paper.

Was talking with my my good friend J about sometimey friends. We all have people who are in our phone books that don't call us, and if we call them, they're too busy. After say a year or two, I have to wonder, why would I call said person anymore? I didn't know them like I thought I did. My emails and calls have gone unreturned, so I will not have a lot of numbers in my address book, taking up space like these people mean something to me. Fake friends, you gots to go.

Let There Be Flowers

Took this picture a while ago in Charleston. I love this picture and Spring is upon us now. I thought I could welcome Spring in my own way. This is also a peace offering to the flowers. Please don't beat me up. Y'all know my allergies are merciless. Please leave me be. My poor eyes.

xxxHolic

This is a CLAMP double feature. For those not in the know, CLAMP is an all female creative team that makes manga (Japanese comics). Many of CLAMPS manga has been adapted into animation (referred to as “anime”), which brings us to this title. I have posted several of the manga./anime titles I have read or seen by CLAMP. They work on titles specifically aimed at girls or boys. They have quite a following in Japan and the US.

xxxHolic (pronounced “holic”) is a supernatural series. I’m just getting into it,. Can’t say much about it other than I like what I see, and I need a few more views. Like I said at an earlier post, I like the figures expressionistic figures. They look jarring at some points, and awkward, yet interesting. Looks like CLAMP was going for a different art aesthetic this go around.
As promised the list of what I have seen/read by CLAMP

  • Card Captor Sakura (TV show and movie)
  • Magic Knight Rayearth (TV show, seasons 1 and two)
  • Rayearth (OVA)
  • X/1999 (movie and TV Show)
  • Clover (manga only)
  • Chobits (TV series)
  • RG Veda (anime)
  • Tokyo Babylon (OVA)

Justice League New Frontier

I love this DVD. I am so curious about the comic it is based on. My girl Aggie says its real good, so I have to peep it someday. Right now it’s out of reach. I was going to go in-depth with a review, but I need to see the full DVD a few more times, and absorb some of the details better. I can and will tell you some of the things I liked reading.

The Flash is impressive to me. I love his battle with Captain Cold (who reminds me of a pimp in that getup, not the parka outfit.). He seems to be the more down to Earth hero. He’s very vulnerable to me, and I know that seems simplistic, but he’s a guy with powers, in love, and feels he doesn’t measure up to the other heroes (which he does). I like a modes hero with some insecurity. They all can’t be Batman.

Speaking of whom, is still the hardest bastard on the planet. I like how he doesn’t soften too much, and realizes that he came off too strong in one particular situation, and kept his edge. Damn he’s serious.

Wonder Woman. She’s taller than superman, and I wished we had more scenes with her, but I liked what I saw. I question Lucy Lawless as the voice of WW because I kept hearing Xena in my head, which makes it a personal prejudice more than a logical objection.

Enough babbling. Please go see it for yourself please.

Writing Theory 1

What do we write? How do we write? What does our writing say about us, and what do we want to say with our writing? Sounds inane? Well, it’s good to know what we as artists and consumers like about our entertainment. We know when the creative team on film or television is full of garbage. We know when our favorite novelist if full of him or herself. We know who got lazy and how to articulate or disdain and praise. How is it that some of us don’t know what we want to write, why style or genre?

If we are letting the writing simply take us where it wants to go, then why we are not subject to chance? That is to say we are letting things happen and playing passive role in the story. The characters are dictating to us completely. This is chance. That is a chance writer. Inspiration must catch us and be our muse.

How do we enhance the chance? Can we dare to be more random? Does the gamble pay off? Does chance writing say anything about the author?

What I'm Watching

I love xxxHolic. The figures are very elongated, and Expressionistic. Something I am well absorbed into these days. I am also loving New Frontier. Stylish, and cool. Why does Batman always seem so cool? He is a god in Gotham when I look at him from a mythological point of view. My only gripe is the show is too short. I will do a full review later this week.

Chef Heystacy

Realized that I made the spaghetti on the spicy side. It’s not overpowering, but it has a bite to it. I am going to have to put the cayenne pepper down sometime. I’m thinking about using rigatoni pasta next time. Just for something different, and meatballs. Yes, its much more involved, but I need to work at the cooking sometimes.

Feeling much better than yesterday’s Claritin fog. I swear the side effects are so draining on me, and I hate it. Gotta lot of work to do. A lot of filing and organizing. I am positive I can get it done.

3/02/08

I took some Claritin, and hoped the 12-hour non-drowsy version would have better results. Guess what? I feel liker my mind is a distorted mess. I can’t concentrate like I need to. I am very sleepy, and I feel like I could fall on the floor and sleep there. This disturbs me. Once again I will leave the allergy meds alone, and suffer to keep up with my studies.

I am so tired.

Adventures From 2007

I snapped this pic while with Mom in Chas. I have plenty more so expect to see them. pretty lights. LOL

We went to see this light show. My cam phone doesn't do the light's justice, and the colors were much more intense in person. I do think that M0m and I had quality time here. It is such a great memory for both of us. I think next time I visit her, we're going to the IMAX theater in Chas.

Script Progress

So now that I have a script to work on, I am now reading it, and with a fine tooth comb, revising it. I have hit a big snag, and that is that there is something missing from the story. A Fresh chunk of logic that tells me how characters A and B have arrived at the next destination is missing. No, the angel left the room, for fear of being stabbed, but the characters aren't popping proper, and that means I need to do some more writing.

*checks to see if angel snuck back in the room-coast clear*

I am grateful that I can see this glaring problem beforehand. I used to rely on other voices for this aspect of my writing, but I am positive that by paying proper attention to this I have given myself a chance to to be aware of what i write and make more informed choices to changes. Very important to my writing evolution.

Can U Keep A Secret?

Well, I am working on one of the short films for my portfolio. It's about a very ambiguous and volatile relationship. It's taken some interesting turns. It went some places I was unsure of. I confess a lot of fear about what the characters might do and say, but they spoke to me and told me what the deal was. I'm all in their biz now.

At first I wanted to censor them, but they needed the room to grow. I promised myself that if I didn't like it, I would simply change it after I completed it. Now I feel that I'm only needing to edit and revising to clarify, not to censor.

So I feel good. I also learned that I need to keep on drinking some water to short out all the negative caffeine effects.

Special Thanks

I want to thank my friends for reviewing my material and giving me feedback. I got some real concrete, constructive ideas, and I am very grateful for it. I have used it all to make a better statement of purpose. So far I have been getting some very great reactions to what I am attempting to do this.

So, April, Brenda, Harriet, Mark, & Martin, I want to thank you once again. You have made my week star with some pep and passion that can’t be bought. I feel I am heading in the right direction with my life. I also didn’t think of myself as ambitious before this. I feel my life has a much stronger direction, and I am happy my friends support me.

I promise to keep y’all updated because I will be singing with joy when I do get into the dramatic writing program.

Speaking of updates I’ve been writing/revising the scripts for the portfolio portion of the submission. So far I have three scripts written and ready, and currently working on two of them. I may use a comic book script, since its part of my ambitions. I want to demonstrate my versatility. So far, I have:

  1. Episode one of sitcom (pilot)
  2. Episode two of sitcom
  3. Episode three of sitcom
  4. Short film one (needs revising)
  5. Short film two (needs revising)
  6. Comic book Script or Dramatic series (needs revising/development)

Today's Events

I've caught some kind of stomach bug. It lasted a few hours, then abandoned me (thank God). For that short time I felt awful, and was upset at my body. I think it may have been my change in eating habits, but one can never be too sure these days. All I can say is my stomach was NOT pleased with me, and let me know ASAP! Thank God it had the sense to let me know while I was home, and not at work. I don't think I could make it at work like this. Traveling home would have been a NASTY challenge. :-(

Been trying to be lazy, which means I'm about to turn the 'puter off and rest my nerves. I needed to write my usual five sentences, and call it a night. I thought I was going to write nothing, but I changed my mind. Took a bath and called it a night. I feel like resting. Let's see what's on TV. If not I'll be back online.

Keeping A Respectable Flow

I need to get back into the flow, and now deliver my five sentences that will keep the ball in court. Went to work yesterday, and found myself coasting on thoughts. I wanted to do more writing, but I had stuff to accomplish. The day and the people were exceptionally good and in no way negative. My only regret is that there were things I could not resolve in the course of a work day. I will take that challenge and have it resolved soon. Take that negative days.

It looks like its going to pour down rain, which I loathe. It also means being extra cautious in traffic because some people think thunderstorms is the time to drive at top speeds. I left my television on soaps. I am going to change that now. No more crappy writing for me.

Speaking of TV's poor Alan has to get a new one. That's a pain and a bother, so I wish him well in finding a new one. A friend of a friend dropped over $1,000.00 on a new one, and i thought about a new one myself, but for me that is in the far flung future. I simply can't afford it. Such is life.

Another Trashy Story

Wrote two pages of a trashy story. It will never see the light of day because I just hate it, but I needed to get it out of my system. Yes, I feel embarrassed, but at the same time relieved that it’s outta my mind, and now outta sight. I live for moving onto bigger and better things. Feeling the weight of the blues lifting for brighter moments. I don’t know what the hell is wrong with me other than I am very moody. It’s been getting under my skin big time.

Did do a cast list for my new screenplay. It needs work as do a couple of other pieces. I feel like I can get a couple of pages for two pages done before the start of this weekend. That would be the icing on the cake that I love. I gotta fight the blues with progress, I know. You can do it too.

Malcontent: When U Gonna Get It Toghter, My Good Man

I've been a little under the weather of late. Not with flu, but my mind has been tired. I don't know what to think. I just know I am moody and very scatterbrained. I can't write, I can't read, and can't process information proper. In effect, I seen to be unable to "get it together. I fell a little stuck in the middle and rather restrained when I need some cohesiveness in my life. Something's not resolved in my head, and before I can go further, I have got to break out of where my head is at. So I pray to God for the strength to resolve my own issues. Cause it's true that I am my own worst enemy.

I am feeling a little better, and I don't know why am am so down on myself when I know that I can do so much more than what I limit myself to.

I'm a little tired and I don't want to be wrapped up in past drama, so i dedicate this moment to let all the toxic crap go. I mean kick it to the curb, don't look back, and get my business in order. I really am feeling like there is too much on my plate that's 100% foolishness. Let it go, let it go, let it go!

Special thanks to my YABS friends as they are parodied in the CSI:YABS serial. I admit to recreating their personalities for the sake of the story. It's strictly for a good laugh. For those in the know head to the workshop and see what I have unleashed upon you. I hope to get five pages per week, so let's hope I can get it done proper. :-) Enjoy YABS peeps.

The Love/Hate Keeps Going

Peaked at Bold & the Beautiful. I admit a certain weakness to some soaps. Every now and then a peek at them entertains me. The fact that they are still dealing with topics from six months ago, forces the redundant part of my brain to shut down. So easily entertained I get. Brooke Logan and her sisters. Are there no other heterosexual men in LA for these women other than the Foresters?

Making speckled butter beans. Goodness, I spent a lot of time with meats than I did on the beans. Cooking wears me out. I hope it's done soon. I'm going to lay on my bead, which is what brought me to peeping the soaps in the first place. *holds head down in shame* I will look for a repeat of CSI: Miami, or New Detectives, or another crime show. Something to mellow me out.

EDIT: I get the feeling Ridge and Brooke will break up (again), since Brooke is lying to Ridge (again), and Ridge's half-brother (who is married to Ridge's ex-wife) has the hots for Brooke (again).

*changes channel before his brain shuts completely down.*

Life and Allergies

My nostrils are burning something fierce. They must be itchy and inflamed because they irritate the hell outta me, and it's impossible to soothe them. Perhaps my bedroom needs cleaning big time. Betta make sure to run the vacuum in there soon. Brought out the air filter. May need the humidifier. Y'all don't know, there's a war in my nostrils.

Had some ideas I had to scribble down, but I will be going back to them once I get my house in order. Reading my notes and preparing for the midterm. I think I'm on the right track.

I Took A Quiz And...

Allergies: Darn It

My alergies have started in on me. Taking Claritin has had mixed results. I have had unusual dreams, and felt like I was on a film loop, unable to think straight or sleep. It's really doing me wrong. On top of that when I wake, I am so drowsy, I can't get my studying in. This means I have to stop taking Claritin, suffer through the allergy assault in order to get some studying done. My plan was to do at least some serious in-depth studying. I grazed over my notes, which irritates the heck out of me. I will keep trying but I am way too drowsy to retain info.

Thursday, February 07, 2008

Allergies Beware

It's been warm, and plants have been getting busy reproducing. Pollen is all over the place. That means my eyes are burning like hot coals. To put my contacts in is a struggle. it's like tossing pepper in my face. I took Claritin and boy does it make me sleepy. So sleepy that i feel like laying under the table and sleeping. I am going to have to get myself a latte soon.

Super Heroine Contest: Round One is Ovah!

The top ten semi-finalists were selected for the contest. Guess who didn’t make the cut? :-( Best wishes to the semi-finalists. It would have been nice to see one of my creations published, but it wasn’t meant to be. As one door closes, another shall opens, so I can’t be blue about this. It was fun to create the pitches. I submitted at least six. One with my homegirl Aggie. It was a blast to collaborate. It was also a challenge to write and condense my thoughts. I have some crucial ideas I plan to expand soon. At least I wasn’t the Sanjaya of this contest. LMAO!!! Y'all don't hate me 'cause I am beautiful. LOL

Here is a list of the semi-finalists. You can read more on Kris' forum. Good luck guys. I am very happy for you.

The Dream Scene

I was fortunate enough to expand on my dream scene and take it to seven pages. I would like to get at least five more pages and let it chill for a few days. That way I can have a fresh perspective when I revise it. Right now I am in the middle of it, so I hope to just keep writing.

It makes me so excited to work on my project, that I am trying to forget the announcement for round two of the "Who Wants To Create A Super Heroine Contest." The winner will be announced tomorrow here, or here and I decided to keep cool about it.

Now I'm all nervous, excited, and hoping for the best, but not so high as to not be able to take possibly not making it to round two. I did give it a good go, and I created some heroines I would like to develop. If I don't win the contest, then I will reclaim them and develop them on my own.

Writing

Decided to take some inspiration from a dream and use it to build a scene. Let's see where it takes us. Already got six pages. Something to feel good about.

Feed Me Friday

I had a lot of errands to do today. One of which was to get a haircut. I am so glad I did, because I was about to go into little fro mode. My hair is thick, and wild. Short and sweet is better for me. Thank God it's not summer. I'd be sweating like crazy.

Speaking of hair, did I mention I have gray hairs in my head? I thought I got rid of them, but the barber noticed more. J told me that gray hair is good luck, so now I have to keep them.

I forgot to buy some juice, and I need some, cause people are sick all over the job and campus. All I need to do is catch the virus they spread. I was hungry too. Didn't cook today, but will make chili tomorrow (I think) if all goes well. I am simply too tired to work over the stove.

I am editing a script I wrote. I am positive it could stand another rewrite, and formatting has become quite the task. You see, I don’t have the ScreenWriter software, so I have to go to the comp lab to format it. I was lucky, and the library has the software on a few of the computers. I was able to format it, print it out, and look it over. Uploading it from Word files can be tricky, as I have to check it all to smooth out any formatting mistakes.

I hope to show it to my friends so that they can give me some feedback, but at least I have to make the changes proper, unless I want to show them how big a goof I am for my many formatting errors.

The

It seems that a lot of people are coming down with colds, fevers, and all sorts of illnesses for thiis week. the result has been me being extra busy. Remembered to take my vitamins today, which I am very grateful that I did. I cannot stress how uncool it would to be sick when I have classes and work to attend. I need to drink more water, and juice. I don't want to get sick. :-(

LIML: Live Inside My Love

LIML: Live Inside My Love
© Stacy R. Haynes

Live inside my love she says
Between her whispers in the dark
My own heart races in anticipation
She kissed my ear, my neck
I was down for her.
She was down for me
We were ready to take the next step.
A step of passion

Summer’s evening brought through
A cool breeze against our hot skins
As we undressed in the dark
Crickets chirped
She had an old turntable
That played 70’s soul music
As the needle found the grove
And we found the rhythm.

We were brazen
Unconcerned
As we sang a melody together
I live inside her love
I breathe her in

She takes me whole
We are wild and restless
In the heat of the night,
We stoke our own fires
Until the embers calm and cool
Laying beside her
Her next to me
Catching our breaths
Pleased inside a world of out own.

Feeling the Funk

What's up with me? I've been feeling like I'm moving in all directions but the one I need to be. Life's being very chaotic. I'm chaotic. My need for sleep is becoming very clear to me. I still have to wrap up my things, and I think I got my script in working condition. In spite of needing some drastic rewrites in some places, I know the frame of it is in place.

This is one of those times where I need to get my writings together. I need to finish this six script portfolio get it done. 23 Colors

Looking at some paints. I need 23 colors for my palette. The prices are sending me into a tailspin. My art has been calling me of late, and I need to answer. At least I have pastels for the time being. I need to draw something for my own gratification. Get back a part of me that's been missing for some time. It bubbles to the surface.

Purple Mood

Still in a purple mood, as Prince is the only music I want to hear. It's a good thing. Prince's music makes me feel good. I don't think I've known another artist with such a versatile body of music.

My Friday :-)

As usual, I have my fingers to my keyboard, writing out some ideas and refining some texts that need it. I am so proud of the work I am doing that I think I can leave it as is, but the brain in me knows to at least give it a day. I feel like I did back in college and I changed an answer on my test. When I should have left the answer alone. I can leave it alone for a day, no?

Make up day for classes was today. I could not get up. It was so cold. A brother could freeze out of his bed. I must have hit the snooze alarm at least four times, which I thought was wrong of me. Still I did it. I was late to class by the way, and the room was cold.

Was feeling a little down. Between work, class, and life, I had a nasty touch of the blues. Not where I want to be. Still I must progress. I do like progress. I, however, feel like I’ve gotten back into a better mindset. I need to keep being proactive, which is my word of 2008.

Joined a writing group, and hope that improves all of us. I have a lot of homework to get to as well. Thank god I only have one class. Come summer I plan on going back to two classes. I have got to be done with my grad degree.

Don't U Know

Been a little drained today. The carpet cleaning has affected me deeper than I expected. I really need to get some fresh air and relax. I will say my day is done, all I need is to get in my bed and relax. I need a bath first.

It's Me Again...But

It’s me again, on my break, trying to have a mellow moment. When I get back to my desk, I have to get some books arranged proper. Trying not to live in my purple mood. Not that I shouldn’t listen to prince, but I need to work other songs in my collection. I saw some new music I wouldn’t mind listening to, but I have to save some $$$ for my future endeavors. Planning can get a little rough, but worth it.

To my friends, please don’t forget that being proactive is the way to find success.

Pink Cashmere Lyrics Written by Prince

Oooh...
There I go again falling in love all over
Oooh...
The cycle never ends
You just pray you don't get burned
Oooh...
This fire inside of me, don't nobody realize
Oooh...
What u are to me, but baby u got to learn

I'm making u a coat of pink cashmere
U got to know how I feel about cha
How I always want u near

I'm making u a coat of pink cashmere
I'm counting every minute
Of every hour 'til u are here

Girl, can't u understand
I never used to go dancing
I was the kind of man who'd rather stay at home
Now, when I realize how much I miss u
I want to jump for joy and thank Him I'm not alone

I'm making u a coat of pink cashmere
U got 2 know how I feel about u, baby
How I always want u near
I'm making u a coat of pink cashmere
I'm gonna count every minute of every hour
Until u are here

Here I go again falling in love all over
Oh, the cycle never ends
U pray u don't get burned

I'm making u a coat of pink cashmere
(I'm, I'm making u a coat of cashmere,
Baby, cashmere)
U got to know how I feel about cha
(U got to know, yeah)
I'm making u a coat of pink cashmere
(How I feel about u, how I feel about u, oh)
I'm counting every minute of every hour
'Til u are here

When I get my arms around u, baby
There's so many things I wanna do
I'm gonna hold u
I'm gonna kiss u
Like u...like u...
I'm gonna tell u a bedtime story, baby
One u never heard before
I said, one u never heard before
About a girl, about a boy
And all the joy
All the things that u enjoy
I'd stay in love, I'd stay so happy
Baby girl, there's so many things
So many things I wanna do
I wanna...
I wanna...
I wanna...I wanna...I wanna...I wanna...
I wanna make u a pretty, pretty coat of cashmere
Cause u got to know how I feel about u, baby
How I feel about u, baby
I'm gonna make a little pretty coat
I'm gonna count every second, every minute
Each and every hour of every day
'Til u come on back
Come on back to u're little man

Because sometimes when you get in a mood, only listening to prince songs will do. Don't like Prince? I thought I knew you all! I know nothing. Get out! Get out! LOL

Something soothing and dynamic about Prince's music. Hands down one of my favorite artists of all time.

With Love From Charleston: 1/3/08 The Family Wrap Up

It’s been a cold week. Too cold for me. My face and feet froze. Not a good thing in my book. I visited my Dad yesterday. Things went ok until he forced me to watch Bold & The Beautiful.

Why is Brooke Logan and her sisters still hoes? Anybody remember that song “You’re a Ho” by Ludacris? OMG There is a reason I gave up on soaps. I see an irony about to happen. Watch me graduate from the dramatic writing program and get a job scripting soap opera characters. Brooke needs a twist to keep her more updated and less the same ole ho we’ve known for years.

I had to remind my Dad to pay his cell phone bill on time. The late fees are murder and I am not covering the late charges. I think his GF didn’t like that, but I’m like pay it or have it suspended. She uses his cell as much as he does. Better get it together, man.

My Gran decided to play a little trick on the fam by shutting off her phone. As people try to get in contact with her, the suspense builds, and eventually someone knocks on her door and she is “surprised” she turned the phone off. Can you say hot mess? Gotta love Gran. She’s quite irreplaceable.

My friend and me were supposed to get together at La Hacienda, but she hasn’t been able to make it. I am disappointed, as I haven’t seen her in a while. But that’s life. I pray there will be other times to hook up.

Went to the dollar tree and restocked the usual supplies for one dollar. May have to hit up Family Dollar as well, to catch a few items on my way out of Charleston.

I’ve been having a good time with my Mom. I miss my family, so it’s nice to get some quality time in with them. My younger brother took at trip to see his daughter, and I wanted to hang out with both of them. Hung out a little with my older brother. Told him about the benefits of having as a retirement plan (401k, Roth IRA, etc.). Observed my own benefits, and feel I am starting of the New Year at a simple, but standard status quo. I love a good start.

Get Out of that Funk

I was feeling a little today, and I can’t have that. Decided to take that bummed out feeling a blog for a hot moment. Being proactive is the key to getting out of this funk. Anyways Law & Order SVU is on, so I want to make this brief, so I can eat it all up. Spent most of the day chilling and trying to take it easy.

Special thanks to my girl Aggie for collaborating with me. Our project has potential, you see. It goes further than the contest we collaborated for. Let’s here it for potential and future projects. Don’t nobody dare give up on their goals.

Happy Birthday Shisho!!!!!

For the superfied librarian who is down to Earth, yet otherworldly. How you get so cool?

The Writing Police salutes you. Now back to writing! LOL

First Script Development of 2008

Hand-edited five pages of script last night. Can't belive I stayed up so late. Woke up and typed the corrections. Slowly this script is shaping up. I remember after I did the first few pages last year, I didn't think I could add to the story. it looks like time away from it was the key. I am sure if I get another five pages worked on, I can format the story proper. I don't want to format it until I have the completed handwritten edits. I will go for five more pages tonight.

Change Your Playlist

Having a rather bi-polar moment. I find I am listening to sad songs. Time to change the playlist. Maybe that's what we need to do in life, change the playlist to some better tunes. So the questions are:
  • What are we listening to that's got us in the funk?
  • How can we change the channel to the negative effects to the funk?
  • How do we get into the spirit of having a proactive life?

Keep the Game Tight

To my peeps feeling the blues, hold your head up. We got to keep our focus tight. Stay on the path of success. To my peeps, I know faith ain’t easy. Love ain’t easy. Life can be very tedious and dragging us to a crawl. There are times when the entire week/month can be so blue for me. I so want to give up on my goals and lay in my bed. However, I truly believe in me succeeding. I believe in you too. If I never speak again, I wish all my peeps love and success. In my heart I know we are all capable of reaching our goals.

What's Goes Well Together

Bold and spicy chili goes well with sweet corn muffins. The taste is so good. my family thinks I like too much spice. I keep telling them my love for pepper is weaker than most people. See Kat can eat wasabi. How the heck does she do that? SK likes even hotter chili. Sadists, both of them. LOL I jest. My family thinks I'm a sadist.

It Hurts, It Hurts!

Earlier today the Sandman was Mike Tyson, and I was the guy he punched. :-(

Oh, I took a hot bath last night, felt good, and today I could not remember if I put deodorant on. I have the new deodorant stick that doesn't have a scent. So far so good. Horaay for hygiene.

Remember those old Shower To Shower commercials? The one where they made the lady sit in the dingy, and she's like, "Why do I have to sit in the dingy.? It's my Yacht!

The response of the people on the yacht is, "Just a sprinkle a day hep keeps odor away!"

I did not have my sprinkle today. :-( I suppose I now have a less than fresh scent.

The Last Post of 2007

I am closing the year with these last entries. Everything else will be saved for 2008. Again I wish everyone a Happy New Year, and hope you do have resolutions you really desire to make come true. I truly feel a positive change coming on, so I am hoping that I am able to share the positive energy with my friends and family. If positive vibes were wealth I’d share it with y’all because no one cannot live without love. Real love and wealth is something you can’t buy. Sounds paradoxical, but the power to succeed, the power to create, and the power of love are stronger than anything I know. All powers can change you, and some for the better.

Peace, love, and success my friends and family. I await the great changes that shall come our way.

Make It Work for You

Writing is a business. A job, if you will. It is a self-starting job that requires the artists to get off of his lazy duff and get things done. In other words, what you waiting for to get things done?
Writing is an art, and it is a gift of communication. Where would our lives be without the written word?

Writing is empowerment.
  • Where do we see ourselves in the next four years?
  • Is there a business plan in place?
  • How have our long term goals being implemented?
  • When do we want to be empowered?

Life Right Now: Rise

Right now it’s not about your past holding you back. Right now is not about negative people who are toxic to your psyche and body. Right now is the time to take a few moments for yourself. Right now is really about you and your well being. Right now is the time to improve your life.

If the pain hurts, grab hold of it. Make that disdain work for you. Don’t let yourself fall under its control. Right now you were not made for nothing. Don’t let someone treat you otherwise. Don’t treat yourself otherwise. Rise above all that constrains you. Take control of your life today. Find your support. Look towards a future you will have.

Take a step towards a better life for you. Be compassionate to yourself, as you may have given so passionately to others. You are worthy of a life filled with good times, dignity, and quality.

Fears In Writing

One of my biggest fears is my inability to write. I never call it writer’s block. More like constipation. It’s all there, and I am afraid to let it onto paper. Yes I am afraid of the many ideas within me. It’s a somewhat irrational fear, but there is some logic in my woes. My fear is that I have so many ideas and I don’t know if I can commit to all of them. Think about it. I have ideas for short stories, novels, movies, and comics. I am scared that I will be overwhelmed with projects and get nothing done. Today is the day I write whatever, because its time I face this fear. It so is time for me to break that old wall, and let the sunshine in.

My next fear is breaking out of my comfort zone. For those not in the know, the comfort zone is what keeps me in check, keeps me safe and, (duh) comfortable. Well that wall goes out too. It’s time to look at what I am writing with a critical and analytical eye and attempt to see what I am writing, and what I want to explore. It’s a trip into the unknown, and I have the support, but some journeys must be taken alone.

  • Perhaps I should have a writing system for new projects:
  • Short stories/prose: I need at least six typewritten pages.
  • Flash fiction: Completed rough draft.
  • Scripts, at least 10 typed pages (unformatted)

2008 Is Near: Clap Your Hands, Stomp Your Feet

My title is liberally borrowed from Ingrid Chavez' song "Heaven Must Be Near."

The year 2008 is our year family and friends. I claim this year for us. We will have success. It will be positive, and very beautiful. We will be inspired to work harder in 2009 for a better life. The things we look for the most are in front of our eyes all the time. We simply need to see what's in front of us. I believe in us.

The Holiday Adventures With Mom

Went to the Mall with Mom. Let me say if was anyone else, I would be very leery of why they dragged me to this place, but for Mom I would. I loathe crowds, because they work my nerves with bad ass kids everywhere, and blocking the walkway. I was very annoyed. Got out of the coffee line (what?) because the wait and the kids were bothering me. Y’all know I don’t give up coffee so easily, right. I managed to get my hands on some white chocolate macadamia nut cookies! OMG I was stressed relived.

Never mind that we both forgot our umbrellas, and it rained when we went into Books-A-Million. Darn rain. LOL. Rain brings cold with it. I need to put some more blankets on the bed tonight. My friend was there. Hadn’t seen her in like months. I was so happy to see her. Spotted a friend’s daughter as well. Didn’t expect that. Hadn’t talked to her Mom in a while (like 2 years).

Had a family dinner at Red Lobster, which was ok. RL was so crowded, that it was a little irritating. I suppressed my disdain. It was family time, and it was worth hearing this woman cackle like she was about to cast a spell on people. I think if I had a dog, she would get him too.

Well Mon and I went to see the big lights in the park. It was very pretty, and I hope to have some pics posted for you soon (after I get back to DSL). Still it was nice to see. Afterwards we stopped for ice cream. We’re both lactose intolerant, and knew better, but it was a small cup.

My Khakis, Myself: Who I Am

Washed the khakis today. These are the work clothes. I like them, but I need more. Every time I stop at Old Navy, they never have my size. It takes a while to get the correct size. They need more colors. I want a little more variety. I may have to slide on over to JCPenny. Let’s hope they have some colors worth looking at. I am so an Earth-tone khaki man. My shirts, however say that I am all over the place. Sometimes I look stylish and very close to professional. Other times I am very eclectic and so individual. I refuse to completely conform.

Simply My Saturday

Nothing much to write here other than dial-up sucks so bad, and I am tired of trying to be patient. Trying to watch Scary Movie 4 and finding it some of it filly, and some of it bland. I suppose the only thing left is to watch it through. Hoping to watch MirrorMask afterwards. Watched two episodes of Escaflowne last night. I want to see more.

Saving Some For Later

I wrote a science fiction prose story a good while ago, then abruptly scrapped developing it. I decided to read it again. I have to say I have fresh eyes on this story, and want to complete it, and send it to publishers. All I can say is I gave my protagonist a distance personal, and strength that I see clearly. I will at least expand what I wrote, and edit it as needed. Who knows, this story may need another catnap from me.

I have a fantasy story I wrote a while ago, and I edited it a while ago too. It has all sorts of handwritten notes on it. So while cleaning up I found it. I have to read it, and the notes I supplied, because I believe it deserves a looking at. I may fall in love with it too. If not I will save it again for later. What I don’t feel at the moment I will fall back in love with. Of that I am sure.

Grosstacular Dining

Did I ever mention the local Starbucks has flies? Lots of flies. It was all in the deserts area. U know I will be skipping that area forever! I can’t be digesting maggots and flies trapped in icing. Crossed off the local Subway when one of the people was eating the chicken out of the bin. The round the corner Quiznos had a dead fly in a friend’s salad.

Sometimes it pays to prepare your own food and be happy about. I can make my own coffee too.

The Writing Life

Entered a writing contest. Let’s hope I make it to round two, because that would be where I want to go. Been working on my portfolio, a collaboration for the writing contest, and life. Who knew a 300 spoof would be so challenging. To those not in the know, it’s the kinda challenge I sink my teeth in, like Dracula to the sexy virgin’s neck from movies (notice he NEVER bites an ugly virgin). Saving it for marriage? Don’t worry, Dracula ain’t gonna get that ugly chick. Would Dracula bite a male virgin? I sense an idea. I just had this idea of someone questioning Dracula’s sexuality, and possibly getting stomped for it. How do you make the undead sexually insecure? Does or should a writer fear the reaction of the public?

Because I Said So

Happy Holidays all. I am having a good time relaxing and enjoying myself. Special thanks to J for treating me to the movies. I had a good time. I so owe you. I also owe you because you asked about me updating my blog. For the record, I outdid last year’s post count by one post. I will endeavor to add to that. Please be patient, Y’all I am working with dial up.

Was lucky and saw two excellent movies (via DVD) I will write my reviews on all the movies I saw shortly. I’d like something detailed for my own satisfaction.

Christmas went off without too many complications. I was late. Not so late y’all have to send out a search party, but late enough to set back my travel time. Granny decided she didn’t want to celebrate with the fam. I’m like what’s up with that? She’s a loner at heart. I just know it. I love visiting my peeps. They give me strength and that is something I take home with me.

Here is to the positive power of thinking, and it bears repeating. I claim the year 2008 as my year to succeed. Again I pray my family and friends are there with me to share the success. For those who hate blog redundancy, I am here to tell you I will say this all through the year. Please come aboard so that you to may share in the success.

The Christmas Eve Tease

Yes, the building was open today. I got so many calls from people who wanted to know we were open. It's kinda funny. It's not like I show up to the workplace to answer the phone for fun. I know that people were unsure, so it merely tickled me. Better to ask than to show up and find us closed. How embarrassing would that be.

It was so darn cold this morning, and I had to get up earlier than usual. I was so unprepared for the cold and it felt like I was not going to make it on time today on time. Thankfully I do not have the Christmas blues, and am feeling rather calm and cool, like I simply want to stay in the moment of calmness that is upon me.

I got a gift from a co-worker that I didn't expect. A cool shirt from Old Navy. Oh it so fits my style. Thanks N. :-) You made my day.

429

Ok, this post means I have officially tied the posting amount from last year. I am happy to go the distance, although I slacked off in November, but I know I was going to make it to rival the amount of last year at least. Let's hope I can get some more interesting aspects of my life on type.

Compelled

What started off as a script for a spoof on 300 has become it's own creature. literally the characters are taking me places that I was unaware of. I am loving the development of the script. I worked on some edits, to give the story clarity, and found myself with a complete seven pages. It's so nowhere done, but it has a life of it's own. It breathes, and calls to me. I am compelled to write it further and further. God willing, I will complete my short film. This is what writing should be.

The Writing Continues

I am still working on the progress that is supposed to be the script. I have so many ideas, and try to figure ways to express them. It's gonna take me some time, but I suspect that I can get it done proper. I am enjoying every bit of my progress. I hope my other writing friends are enjoying themselves as well.

Soothe My body & Mind

Why is writing much more harder than it needs to be. All I need to do is make a writing statement, and that seems so far out of my mind that I fear I will not make one. I worry, I get sad, I want to scream. I'd like the rest of the world know I am frustrated with myself, and it for no being synchronized with me. I need to soothe my body and mind.

Changing the Game

For those not in the know, I run four blogs. Yes, I keep myself divided. I have been thinking of creating a dedicated blog, and keeping it specialized. I discussed with a couple friends about closing out blogs, or even restructuring them. Here is my tentative plan.

  • Yeah, I Write This Blog is my parent blog. It’s where I write how I feel. There are no apologies for my own expression. Also it is my oldest blog, and I can’t give it up, in spite of dividing my attention.
  • A Horse With No Name: May contain stuff from the parent blog, and more DWAM adventures. ;-)
  • Neither Here Nor There: Is mainly to keep up with my peeps, so expect the posting updates to vary. Since the writing circle lives there, I may add more fiction writing content.
  • #4 may be revamped, but it was supposed to be my “happy blog.” It discusses things that make me happy. I may create a new blog altogether dedicated to the things that bring me joy. For the record, you may not see the new blog until I have at least ten posts. I may simply incorporate it into my parent blog.

Speckled Butter Beans

Last Night I decided that I would make some speckled butter beans for today’s dinner. I will be making some hamburgers to go with them today. When I cooked the beans, it seemed I did not season them enough. Perhaps I did not have enough meat flavoring in them. I used smoked picnic, and I thought that was enough. Used cayenne pepper, Italian seasoning, a little salt, and garlic (sorry Night Swordsman). Still the flavor did not come through. Was I too stingy in the adding of seasoning?

Well, I am one not to give up, and I can taste the pepper. It’s very sneaky. You get the heat in a subtle way. I know its there. I’ve salted it enough. My greatest fear is over salting. I know the garlic is there. LMAO I can taste it in the background too. The salt not so much but the Italian seasoning is there. Perhaps the seasonings need some time to bond proper, and I was too eager for something that had a hint of flavor like Mom’s cooking.

Needless to say, this evening when I take it out of the fridge to cook, I will know what the deal is. Will the tastes I’ve craved be there? Will I be satisfied with what I have? Do I have to call my Mom and ask her what she puts in her food? BTW I am not messing with the pigtail or the briskets-smoked or fresh. LOL Time will tell indeed.

Kappa Mikey Goodness

LOLCATS

lolcats funny cat pictures

Ooops… Oh My

Yes, Aggie has this song in my head. LOL Not a bad song to have on my head. The song’s not why I’m writing this entry though.

I got my six pages of my script for the short film as desired, and ready to write two more pages for my own satisfaction, but then I took my short film in another (nearly wrong) direction. I say this because, what felt like a clever twist (for lack of a better word), was pushed too far. So far that the story stopped making sense. I hate when that happens. Come back to my muse. My short film needs us.

I took a break from it, because it pissed me off. Then I got ideas for my novel. When the floodgates open, they open. I decided to prep some of the foods for tomorrow’s dinner (speckled butter beans and burgers. That’s when I had this idea for one of the characters that did fall back in line with who they are, so I am pleased. Before the end of the day I will erase and replace the tangent writing with much more worthy scene.

One thing still bugs me. I still don’t know how long this film is.

Six Pages

If I can get my six pages of my short film done today. I will be happy. I'm being very improvisational, since I don't have a set time length. I suppose the story will stop itself. A lot of ideas come when I type them out. :-) This story was handwritten in November, so it's time to put it script format proper. Gotta get back to writing it. I needed to take a break from it for a hot moment, and email peeps. Yes, I am goofing off, but I needed it.

Why Does Heystacy Have Be Upset?

It is time to vent. So ok, I finally got a response about my having to take two boring (yet basic) English classes. The reason is that I am not and English major and that's what non-English majors have to take as preliminaries. Y'all my brain fries itself in situations like this. I am so spent on this. Did it take three months to tell me this? I am so confused by how complex this has become, and disappointed in how can anyone look at my transcripts and suggest that I need two classes I've surpassed when I was an undergrad.

My Academic Goals

I still would like to write comics, but that is only one of my goals. I want to write for stage and screen. I will write short stories and complete my novels. I want to create some video games as well. This means going out of my comfort zone, and thinking outside the box.

For my writing friends, I hope y’all have goals in mind, because when I am done with my MFA degree it’s into straight up writing full time.

P.S. I have to dust of my resume for my portfolio. I know I will be busy.

Professional Writing vs. Dramatic Writing

For those not in the know, I am in a professional writing program. I will learn about publishing, critiquing, creative nonfiction, and presenting. My job options will be diverse and hopefully with the MFA behind the degree, pay more.

I have fallen in love with my screenwriting class. Here I would learn about film and stage production, as well as the opportunities to produce my own plays or film. My job options would be very specific, but my talent will allow me to move around in theater and film/TV, which may be a boon.

What you do not know is that I love them both, and if I could double major, I would, so I don’t. A friend suggested that I speak with the head of the dramatic writing program because all we are doing is talking, right? No harm done. Well the dept. head of the DW program has been so kind to me, AND he told me what I needed to present in a portfolio. I need to present six scripts, not simply six good writing pieces.

What has the pro writing program done for me lately? It’s held me hostage. I have two basic English courses they want me to take and I am not down for that. I’ve been trying to resolve this matter for months now. It’s become irritating to me. I must give credit to my advisor, because she has been very receptive and responsive, but I do feel the ice grip of limbo.

Let’s recap: I have a department head who gives me the heads up on his program, and a program that gives me limbo. I love screen writing, and I want to do much, much more of it. Guys, what am I waiting on? This is how I became a painter. My then advisor, Cliff Peacock, told me what to expect from being a painter and being a studio art major in my undergrad years. The rest is history. Said goodbye to the old program and worked a studio art degree.

The Writing Police Cometh

*flashes badge*

Who's got some writing done?

Needless To Say...

...I have a few rewrites to consider. I'll be busy with them. I hope to at least get 25 posts before the end of the year, and I hope that the writing will give me strength. I have the feeling that some of my stories are shorter than i expected, and I still hope to experiment with the prose style. I believe that I have the start of a lovely moment. Let me not spoil it please.

Trying to Skate Uphill

What I have learned today about myself and about writing, is to not spend a great deal of time trying to describe the story, mini-series, novel, etc. (what it's about), but to write it out and see what happens. I have a lot of ideas I let fall to the wayside because I don't let my ideas flow. I try to restrict them, and that feels wrong.

If I learned anything from my screen writing class (and I knew form my many English classes), it is that I must throw away all preconceived notions. I must surrender to the pen, the keyboard. I must hear and feel what I write. I must listen to the characters speak (and they do), and I must let them set the paste and be who they truly are. It is truly difficult to let go of this kind of control. To understand the control, you must feel know what the control is.

For example, took extensive notes and ideas for my fantasy novel. The moment the novel strayed, I became upset, and was unwilling to finish it. I could not make the characters do as I wanted. They did not resemble the characters I so preciously took notes on. I refused progress because I could not have my way. Yes, it was all or nothing emo response to my own writing, and I admit I did not recognize the flaw until later down the line, with several alternate versions of chapter one, and with me now organizing my thoughts.

$50.00 and More

Remember that Rachel Ray show on Food Network called, $40.00 a Day. Well my version is called $50.00 for two weeks.

Had a $50.00 budget for groceries today. Went past that budget by $16.00. I am not too upset. If I had not put the limit in place, I may have spent $80.00-90.00. That’s too much of a good thing. Still, I will endeavor to restrict my budget to its proper $50.00. I gotta keep sticking to the budget.

DRAINED

I am tired as I write this, but I need to type out my blog, even if I don’t post it tonight. Cooked some BBQ ribs for the upcoming week’s dinner. They smell great. They just came out of the oven. OMG I love that smell. Tasted the3m. So tender and good. I wish i could share with the readers here.

I feel tired. More like a mental exhaustion. I am so going to take a bath and rest my nerves. Perhaps I should have a drink to settle my nerves. I need to have my food cool off before I go all lax on things though. I am thinking of French Toast in the morning.

Stacy’s Charleston Exodus 11-28-07

My Mom (so understandable) wants me to stay in Charleston a little longer (*like forever—parents LOL Gotta love em). I would, but it’s time to go back home. It’s been seven wonderful days in Charleston seeing the family and enjoying their company, but its time to return to my home and get to business. For the record I will miss them, but I can’t stay. Grand mom was not hearing that, but I got things to do.

First and foremost my printer is in need of use. I have been waiting to print out the stories I rewrote or rediscovered.

I need to sleep in my own bed, which is calling me like crazy with the cable tv and the DVD player.

I need some Stacy time. I’ve had seven days of family bliss, and I’ll settle for a few days of “Me time.” I invited my fam to come visit me. They know the deal. I would love for them to visit. They may need a get away.

It’s been bliss, but tomorrow I’m getting back to my apartment and this will all that there is. Big shout out to my family for the love and support.

You Know Your Peeps Are Crazy When…

...They suggest you take all your blogs, and LJ entries, then print them out as your M.F.A. Thesis in Contemporary/Professional Writing.

If I did I wouldn’t censor a damn thing. Take it as is or leave it. I'm gonna have some salty moments. Some people gonna hate it. DWAM goes back into my entries.

It intrigues me, because I thought of writing something raunchy and salacious for my own benefit, and because it’s art, man. Don’t censor me. Don't hate my thesis.

It's a little novel, and very suspect, in that I can be a wise ass and keep it real. Middle child syndrome at it's peak.

If I Told You That…

…Is a song by Whitney Houston. It’s from her CD, My Love is Your Love. This is a very good CD with a very strong R&B music selection, and power ballads (signature Whitney).

I mention this song because there is an alternate version of the song, which was made into a duet with George Michael. This was such an error of judgment on someone’s part. First and foremost, I like both artists, but not together. Whitney’s voice on this song is dynamic. Her range is amazing. She’s working those notes. She makes singing seem effortlessly.

George’s voice, next to hers, is extremely flat. He can’t complement her style or range. For the song to blend well she would have to restrain her vocals, and hold back a lot to make it cohesive. I can’t hear her signing like that, not when she can belt like she does. While you hear her range, you get nothing from George. It’s like pairing the Flash against a turtle. She dusted him. For me it makes the song distracting, and uneven. Definitely it irritated my ears.

In this case, her and his love was not my love. They were mean to me. I can say, since I also saw the video, at the very least, George knows how to dance, which Whitney has yet to master. It is a dance track. What’s the holdup Whit?

The Affair

I'm having an affair. It started in the kitchen, then I took it to the bedroom. Very indulgent of me. I don't care who knows at this point. Ben & Jerry's Banana Split is the bomb. What? Y'all thought I was all over some married chick? Only is she's holding Ben & Jerry's and wants to watch me eat it would I think about it.

Stacy’s Story Revising Workshop

Dusted off some old files and found some stories worth looking over and improving. I found several comic book scripts, short stories, and three novels. For once I am not overwhelmed, but enthusiastic about the possibilities of improving my writing skills. I know I can tell t he story, but I’d love to increase my wealth of character development & growth. So with fresh eyes, I dare to look at my stories with a positive attempt at making changes.

I am finding common themes, and working to perfect my stories. I need to add a few movie scripts in there. I didn’t even get to all the comic book scripts in there In need to redevelop. With the two aforementioned, there is no way I can do them all within one period. Still I would like for them to have some order, and will thus create a file for the comics as well. So now I have separate files for my short stories, poetry/songs, comics, and novels.

Began experimenting with the language I use in prose for my short stories. The first was my erotic short story, but the other is my novel (put the poetic prose away some time ago-another case of lost then recovered file).

This reminds me of a short film I was working on (handwritten). Better get that typed up and ready to get out of the box.

11/27/07 Bringing Up Pops

Visited my Dad today. He was doing ok. He took me to lunch and we talked about our lives. Not a bad exchange.

My cell phone was suspended today, I was short on the bill. OMG Why did I let it get this far? Paid the difference. The guilty party who didn’t pay his part, will have to pay me directly. It will balance itself out. I am not pleased with that.

My bills have piled on, and I feel like I need to focus squarely on getting things under control, or face some very painful bites of late fees and penalties. It’s time to be proactive, and settle the matter.

Remember, when you travel, don’t forget the charger for your cell phone. Fortunately I have a car charger, otherwise my phone would be off, and I would not make a single call.

11/26/07 Another Good Day

Tried the eggnog creamer in my coffee today. Which is, by the way, better than the nasty ass eggnog latte. Maybe because I can control the amount of flavor, which is much better than I expected. It doesn’t beat hazelnut flavor, but it is a quirky twist that I wouldn’t mind trying again.

My bro is still trying to figure out his Blackberry. I admit that they are neat and I should not hold it, as its temptation factor tripled, but I didn’t fall off the wagon. I am not getting a Blackberry.

Last night I wrote and edited a couple of my stories. I need to print out a copy of my works so I can mark on them. Need to find and work on some older stories I am sure I have lying around my apartment. Several pieces have got to make it to publishing. I insist on that.

Been thinking of converting some of my comic book scripts to movies or television shows. Not sure how or when, but the desire to make the material producible and publishable is appealing to me. It requires more work, but I don’t mind if it will bear fruit.

Watched Elizabeth last night on Flix (I think it was Flix network). I should get this on DVD. Love this movie. I like historical fiction. This being the story of Queen Elizabeth the first is parts moving, dark, and stylish. The costumes, though unusual to me, are very well done. I forget the names of the characters, but it’s very good. The “sequel” will be in theaters soon. I want to see it.

Can I Haz Blackberry?

Both my brothers have Blackberry phones. They look so sleek and sophisticated. It’s the perfect expensive toy for a man (or woman) on the go. How positively enchanting it would be for me, and with so many possibilities of use.

I’m cool and sophisticated. Should I not have a Blackberry? I want to be cool like them. LOL Sadly, it’s not going to happen. I do find the Blackberry appealing, but I have other things on my agenda, and can’t afford it or the calling/data plans attached to it.. Still I wanted to be in the cool club, and not be the middle child with his different phone.

*Whines, pouts, then gets over it.* Problem solved. *Sees iPhone.* OMG I am so in love!!! Forget a Blackberry, can I haz iPhonz?

11/23/07 The Day After Thanksgiving…

…And this time payback is for real!

So far, today is fair. It’s a little cold, and it was so warm yesterday. My Aunt is dropping by so I hope to spend some time with her. It’s rare to find the family in the same location, but it’s good when I can see people.

Got my headphones, and playing some good music so I can write this entry and tune out the surroundings. This is my secret to writing. Back when I caught the buss everywhere, in order to drown out other conversations, I needed my Discman. With it on I could read, do homework, draw and enjoy the trip better.

Auntie never showed, but we talked on the phone.
