Some More Art For You: Torso/Model on Bed

Both were done back in the day. Both are oil on board, and have held up pretty well. :-)

I did these in my Painting II Class. When I went home I saw them and decided to snap a picture of them. I like both pictures. In looking back, I found a
strong need to render the models in fantastic colors. Of course no one this side of Captain Kirk will encounter (or shag) a green woman, but I felt the colors gave the images a strength I could feel, rather than see directly. Does that make sense to anyone besides me?

This is where I was, and I need to find out where I need to be. Yes I multi-task, but I feel like I'm missing the balance in my life. Art's where its at.

Were these women actually naked when you took the picture?

They were indeed nude for these paintings. I've done nude photography, but painting the body has more of a challenge.

Wow! Did you feel funny about them being nude like that for hours? I mean man only needs visual things to excite him sexually. How were you able to do it and block that out? Did you know these women?

I've always wondered this about people who take pictures or draws or paint nude people. Now I get to ask. lol :o)

I'd be lying if I did tell you it's not a provocative experience. Artists are a different breed. You have to do some suppression.

I also admit that at first you can't help but be nervous, laugh yourself silly, and freak out. We all got over that.

Also the more sensual the picture, the more possibly that the eroticism is transferred from looking at the model, and onto the canvas.

The human body is beautiful, and so worth exploring.

Well Stacy, you surprise me. Never knew you would paint a woman live who was nude. :o)

I don't know you personally, but from just knowing you here on the net for I don't know how many years now, I guess I've always peceived you as more conservative. You're definitely not concervative if you can paint women standing or laying before you butt naked! LOL

Stacy's got a wild side!! LOL :o)

I wouldn't say wild. Conservative is a state of mind for me. I do have conservative values, but my desire to be an artist pushes me away from my comfort zone.

It wasn't easy at first, but I value the experiences as an artist.

This may be why there is such a break away from where my family is and where I am. I love art and very proud of this.

That says everythiing right there. I wished I was passionate about something that would take me out of my comfort zone. I'm very much into my comfort zone, which really just leaves me stagnet. I think I'm a pretty boring person because I pretty much stay in my comfort zone fully.

That's good that you have that passion for art.

Yes, I think that's probably why you had to move away from the family so you could grow fully as an artist, leave that comfort zone. You should be proud of your art work. I think you're doing good. :o)

Thank you Beatty. It has been a long struggle. I still have a lot of work to do, and I need my writing career to jump off too.

Beatty said...

Yes, I know you are very much into the writing also.

I'm not sure if it still is happening down there, but you should know that alot of good connections comes through that part of the country for people with writing, drawing, painting, or acting talent. Use to be when I lived down there, it was like little Hollywood or little New York with all the movies they make there in that area of Savannah, Beaufort, and Charleston. You got all kinds of good connections just coming there all the time. So you're already a step closer to your dream. You may just have to step out of the comfort zone a little bit more in order to meet some important people that would be of great benefit to you and making your dream come true.

You make some good points. My professor is a script writer, and constantly working on projects. She will be a great contact source.

Well, there you go! You've been so busy, I'm sure it's easy to overlook some important people you are coming in contact with everyday. It sure won't hurt to try. :o)
