
Remember this cartoon? It was based on the Archie Comic book with the same name. I didn't know this, but character Valerie Brown if the first African-American animated character to appear on a Saturday morning line up. Valerie was the smart member of the group. She had a technical savy and the brains to figure out many of the solutions to the 'Cat's adventures.
When Hanna-Barbera was going to animate this series, they were going to change Valerie to a caucasion woman. Music producer Danny Janssen stuck to his guns to keep the character African-American. I give him mad props for that.
